Another day of hectic activity at the GES Summit 2017 held at HYDERABAD INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION CENTRE (HICC) on Thursday. The concluding day had given an enormous chance to the delegates to interact with the, who is who of the entrepreneurship ecosystem, globally. The day was dominated by the emerging trends in artificial intelligence (AI). The concept exhibited by global entrepreneurs was in lieu with the main themes of GES that were healthcare and life sciences, digital economy and financial technology, energy and infrastructure, and media and entertainment.
A panel of experts discussed on “Knowing the Future: How Artificial Intelligence (AI) will shape tomorrow.” The main concern among the delegates was job losses with the advent and implementation of AI concepts. However, Nivruti Rai India’s country head for Intel clarified her opinion on the issue. She went on to inform “the society will go to the next level where new jobs in new areas will be created.” Further added, robots are mere companions to humans and need humans to operate.
India being a huge country has a wide database that could be leveraged to develop AI and the data must be made available to entrepreneurs by the government, felt Shubha Nabar, Sr Dir of data sciences at US-based Salesforce. Rama Kalyani Akkiraju of IBM concluded by adding, “AI will change the way we live.”
Another important aspect that needs to be mentioned at the GES Summit 2017 while summing up the whole event is about Boeing completion. Formerly the US based aerospace giant unveiled the Boeing HorizonX India Innovation Challenge 1.0 in collaboration with T-Hub. The company invited entrepreneurs to present their ideas on themes like drones and data application, factory productivity, supply chain, aircraft maintenance and services, passenger experience, defence, commercial and industrial uses.
An official statement by the company added the challenge is aimed at attracting the best Indian start-ups to propose disruptive solutions to tackle complex challenges in the areas of autonomous and unmanned systems, advanced manufacturing, industrial IOT and automation, analytics, AI and machine learning (ML).
Boeing India President Pratyush Kumar informed, “The Boeing HorizonX India Innovation Challenge 1.0 is our attempt to channelize India’s incredible talent and entrepreneurial energy for the future of innovation in aerospace and related areas. The Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) provides a perfect backdrop for us to unleash a wave of innovation, both within and outside of Boeing.”
T-Hub CEO Jay Krishnan announced, the 22-week-long challenge, will be open to start-ups across the country. The winners of the contest will have an opportunity to engage with Boeing on future partnerships.
