- What’s your investment strategy and focus for StartUps and MSMEs?
– I am setting up a SEBI approved CAT II Fund, with a sector agnostic approach and look out for good emerging sectors. Would be focusing on Early stage, Pre-Series A, Series A to Series B staged companies
– We would prefer to be lead investors, but ok to look at sharing the cap-table with co Funds and Co LPs
– We would be very interested to look out for good opportunities in the Pre IPO stage and also in the space of listed equities
- What kind of support can StartUps and MSMEs expect beyond funding?
– as Amplitude we want to be a part of our portfolio company’s growth cycle
– we would help in building their top lines,
– provide forward integrations, open new geographical regions (both domestic and cross boarder)
– provide ecosystem support (internal ecosystem from our community of accomplished industry and domain experts as well as external ecosystem of our pool of industry and investor players)
- What are your expectations for growth and returns in StartUps and MSMEs that you have invested?
– since our investment exposures would be from early stage to Series stage, the possible exit routes for us would be by way of larger PEs entering on captable & IPO listings
– also since the fund life is 5 years +1 +1 of extension the expected portfolio growth multiples are 8x+
- How do you approach governance and decision-making in StartUps and MSMEs?
– Amplitude will be a fully compliance following and all regulatory requirements fulfilling Fund
– same is expected from all our portfolio companies
– all exposures and involvement by Amplitude would only be towards StartUps that follow corporate governance, process and all statutory requirements
– at Amplitude for us there is no deviation to this rule
Investing in India’s StartUps is more than just a financial endeavor; it’s a commitment to nurturing innovation, fueling economic progress, and shaping the future. While challenges such as regulatory hurdles and market volatility remain, the resilience and ingenuity of Indian entrepreneurs make the journey worthwhile. For investors, this ecosystem offers a unique blend of high risks and high rewards, where long-term vision and strategic partnerships can unlock immense value.
