British Council honours two Indian upcoming entrepreneurs for their innovative methodology and creative improvisations utilised in their entrepreneurship. It must have been a tough time for the judges to pick up the two out of a batch of ten such personalities.
Amidst fierce competition of innovations, Pawan Kumar and Sandeep Sangaru for the Young Creative Entrepreneur Awards, 2012. The awards are given in two categories- design for social impacts and digital for creative industries.
Pawan Kumar a seasoned theatre actor, entered the tinsel world with his first feature film in 2009, for this film he wrote the ploy and won the Karnataka state award. But it was in 2011 that he got recognition with his directorial debut which was a commercial success.
And now he embarks on a crowd-funded venture probably first of its kind in Kannada. The film LUCIA is funded by audience from all corners of the globe. Home talkies is another innovative online initiative. This is a platform to distribute films online for film makers.
Sandeep Sangaru specialised in furniture design from the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, is basically a mechanical engineer. Sangaru Design Studio, a multidisciplinary design consultancy firm and Sangaru Design Objects Pvt Ltd, a manufacturing company are both his companies in Bengaluru.
His penchant for innovations pushed him to the thresholds of success. His project called the ‘Truss-Me’ bamboo range of furniture won him the Red Dot Design Award – Best of the Best 2009. At the Design For Asia Award 2011- Truss-Me won the Grand Award and the Gold Award.
Both the Indian entrepreneurs from Karnataka are pride to the nation which needs more such innovative minds to set up shop. Way2World commends the duo for their outstanding achievements. They have also stood as the brand ambassadors for entrepreneur India by scaling difficult peaks.
The function was organized in the Park hotel in Kolkata this week. The award is given to young innovative entrepreneurs in the age group of 21-40 years. The award connects an international network of emerging entrepreneurs who possess leadership qualities that are supported by creativity and innovation.
