What Indian Start ups need gain!!
ENTREPRENEUR GUIDANCE:
The one billion dollar Facebook acquisition of a Photo sharing app company Instagram is the hot topic of the day, wherever we go. Today while talking to some of my colleagues, they were quite optimistic about the deal. However, they managed to mumble that it is a Silicon Valley deal and the same could not be expected in our country. To this argument, I forthrightly disagreed, with due courtesy to the changing scenario. Earlier our student innovators or programmers were content with working in piece meal like arrangements. Nevertheless, the situation is different now and our people are really equipped to synergize their energies. To create a thoroughly individual applications which are devoid of any external additions. To this most agreed as day in and day out, we are into motivating start ups across the breadths of this country.
But I extended my argument that today the changing scenario brings in the access to millions or even billions across the info highway. With a vantage position on hand why did Facebook acquire the 13-employee company. Reasons are that the social networking giant did not want to leave the unexplored crowds and wait for them to join in later. Moreover, another important phenomenon, I think is, the networking company wanted to extend its service to the existing customers on one platform. This concisely means that however big a company is only more customer flexible solutions helps to retain customer patronage. Secondly, plunge before your competitor over rides you. This argument holds good even for Indian start-ups, if there is something unique about your new idea, and if your clients appreciate your service then you are sure to get your mobile hooked to the Silicon Valley hybrids. The wait might be a little long and quite painful but the fruits are worth the pains.
Now what do we learn from the Instagram offering. Most importantly, the discipline with which the 13-employee company would have functioned to create hype in the market. Had the apps been complicated or absurd then with in twelve hours of its romance with Google’s Android, began, it got more than a million new users. Such was the power of the apps. Here it was a win-win situation for both. Facebook got time-tested apps that were acclaimed by millions. On the other hand, hard work with perseverance paid off for the Instagram. These are the lessons that an Indian start up needs to imbibe in them and the opportunities are unlimited feels Way2World.
