The most awaited opportunity to work in a live wire business environment is now possible with an encouraging diplomatic initiative of the US Embassy through its NEXUS INNOVATION HUB AND BUSINESS INCUBATOR at American Center, New Delhi. The hub harnesses US – India collaboration to help the startups thrive with modern methodology.
NEXUS INNOVATION HUB AND BUSINESS INCUBATOR offers access to networks of industry experts and government agencies, for the selected few startups. The pre-incubation training includes guidance from global commercialization experts. It is a free of charge program. The selected startups get an access to extensive mentor networks and funders.
Nexus is collaboration between the US Embassy and the IC² Institute of the University of Texas at Austin to display the best of American and Indian entrepreneurship, innovation and technology commercialization. The association benefits the startups incubated by the organization, in defining successful strategies to market the innovation.
Applications are available online, on NEXUS portal. The shortlisted teams would be contacted and they need to attend the ten-week program. The selection process is highly competitive with only 10% of the applicants accepted in each call. So students with innovative ideas hasten up to get into this prestigeous program to move to the next level in your entrepreneurship saga.

Each startup will be allowed to bring 2 team members into NEXUS for the pre-incubation training, day-to-day mentoring and events.
The power packed schedule is ideally designed to put the startups on the right tracks on the business fronts. NEXUS is equipped with business professionals who help entrepreneurs scale up their business lines and increase the customer base.
In addition, the teams get a chance to network with mentors who hail from various successful startups which could help them upgrade as per present industry standards.
NEXUS looks for startups where they can add the most value by bringing global best practices of entrepreneurship and innovation. They plan to conduct such pre-incubation programs thrice a year.
For every pre-incubation program, 15-18 teams are selected. These teams undergo intensive training for ten weeks. Of these, 3-4 teams are shortlisted for an 8 month indepth incubation schedule. This is a continuous process.
In addition, they also conduct programs like, ‘SOUTH ASIA CONNECT’, which is a training of trainers program. Participants from India, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka are selected, for training at NEXUS. Later these leaders go back and identify more teams based on the methodology briefed by NEXUS.
Another unique initiative by NEXUS in fostering women entrepreneurship is ‘ASPIRING WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS’. Through this, they identify women entrepreneurs form universities across India and train them at NEXUS and at IC² Institute of the University of Texas at Austin.
The support extended by the US Embassy in fostering Indian entrepreneurship ecosystem is laudable and commendable. Many startups must utilize such potential options to scale up their enterprises.
