The relentless efforts put in by the Telangana State Government were clearly visible at the inauguration of the Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2017 held in Hyderabad, HYDERABAD INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION CENTRE (HICC). The event that displayed the bonding between India and the United States took off amidst splendor and grandeur at around 4 pm at the Hitex, on the 28th Nov 17. The eighth in the series of fostering entrepreneurship events was the first to be held in South Asia. Moreover, true to the magnitude of the event the local organizers maintained the stature well balanced.
The grand program was a cynosure to the 1500 delegates who participated from almost 127 countries. The people who could not attend the event stuck glued to their television sets to catch a glimpse of the historic proceedings. This year’s GES titled ‘Women first, Prosperity for all,’ saw nearly 52% attendance of women entrepreneurs who brought in innovate solutions to serve humanity irrespective of geographical demarcations.
The entire event displayed the growing togetherness between the two hosting nations United States and India. Speeches made by Ivanka Trump. Advisor to the US President and by Our Prime Minister Shri Narender Modi, clearly showcased this emotion. However, the centre of attraction was a humanoid “MITRA” manufactured by Bengaluru based Invento Robotics. MITRA welcomed the guests of honour and played an active part in the launch of the event.
Highs of Ivanka Trump Speech:
Ivanka proved her versatility on the ongoing trends of entrepreneurship in her speech, leaving the onlookers spell bound. She was so fluent in her flawless address that even the moderately educated could easily understand her passion for fostering women entrepreneurship. She opened up by admiring the various initiatives taken up by the Indian Premier to usher an upward surge in entrepreneur nurturing. She added, “You’ve proven that transformational change is possible. You are bringing that promise to hundreds of millions of people across your country. Thank you.” She also thanked all the delegates who have travelled from across the globe to participate in this event.
Particularly Ivanka endorsed that since 2014-16 women entrepreneurship grew by 10%, worldwide, a remarkable milestone. Her speech specially mentioned about three entrepreneurs who are silently serving the humanity with their innovations. They were Dara Dotz from San Francisco, Rajya Lakshmi from Bengaluru and Reyhan Camalova from Azerbaijan. The three of them seated among the delegates waved out to the crowd as she mentioned about them.

Dara Dotz now provides life-saving supplies through 3-D printing. Rajya Lakshmi invented a smart glove that predicts, manages, and detects different diseases and disorders using Artificial Intelligence. And Reyhan Camalova harvests energy from rainwater to light up. Ivanka concluded her speech by requesting women to dream big and aim high while working together towards a more prosperous future.
Highs of Shri Narender Modi Speech:
The Prime Minister thanked all the attendees and said his government has made the entrepreneurs ecosystem investor friendly by bringing in a host of taxation reforms. He added that over 1200 outdated laws were scrapped and 87 rules eased to attract foreign investments in 21 essential sectors. By creating a conducive environment, India was able to achieve 100th rank (earlier India was ranked 142) “Ease of Doing Business report” compiled by the World Bank.
Emphasising on women entrepreneurship, he added that women are considered as shakti avatars or the forms of energy. He continued that the main themes of GES were healthcare and life sciences, digital economy and financial technology, energy and infrastructure, and media and entertainment. He concluded all of them are relevant to the well-being and prosperity of humankind.
Products that stole the show on Day 01
HALO 5D PRINTER:
World’s first hybrid manufacturing machine, capable of “subtractive manufacturing” and 3D printing too, was an exhibit that won many hearts at the event. Ethereal Machines, a Bengaluru based start up designed this equipment. The founder Kaushik Mudda revealed that it could manufacture anything from a watch to a shirt and even sculptures. He also suggested that it was the most economical alternative in the market.
ATHER S340:
Two IIT graduates, Tarun Mehta & Swapnil Jain, from Bengaluru, displayed their electric scooter with a variety of hybrid features like touch screen dashboard, remote application control, light-sensing headlamps and over the air updates. The S340 is powered by a Lithium ion battery pack that is embedded in the base of the scooter.
AMBUPOD:
Dr Lavanian Dorairaj from Pune designed a single patient all weather Basic Life Support (BLS) micro ambulance coupled with a make shift clinic. This attachment on wheels can be connected to any vehicle like motor cycle or auto. This solar powered ambulance will make navigation easier along narrow paths and in any terrain.
The day ended with a dinner for the dignitaries at the historical Faluknama Palace. The Nizami dawaat hosted by the union government honoring the visit of Ivanka Trump, had five-course menu. The menu included many continental dishes besides Telangana delicacies and Mughalai cuisine. All the dignitaries relished the dishes and enjoyed the ambience.
